"In this program, Ken Kesey, Kesey scholar John Clark Pratt, psychiatrist and critic Frank Pittman, 'Rolling Stone's' Jann Wenner, 1960's icon Wavy Gravy, and others set 'One flew over the cuckoo's nest'--an indictment of Eisinhower Era conformity--within the context of its times. Together they talk about the novel, the Academy Award-winning movie, and Kesey's role as leader of the Merry Pranksters and the star of the West Coast psychedelic scene. Producer Saul Zaentz, director Milos Forman, and Louise Fletcher (Nurse Ratched) describe the making of the movie. The influence of Cuckoo's Nest on mental hospital reform is also considered"--Container.
